Scholarly Works

Throughout my undergraduate career I have been very passionate about the research and writing involved in the study of history. All of these papers have been presented at research conferences at UNI. Here are some of my works from my past 4 years.
"Wale, Wale, Wales, What Do We Have Hear: The Role of the Welsh Language in 20th Century Welsh Nationalism."
This paper looks at the complex relationship between self-determination and nation within the context of Welsh nationalism during the 20th century, specifically the role the Welsh language had on national sentiment and action.

"Wiggling Wings and Falling Chocolates: The Candy Bomber and American Foreign Policy 1948-1998."

This paper takes a look at how Gail Halvorsen's celebrity as the Candy Bomber during the Berlin Airlift influenced American Foreign Policy for years to come. It expands the thought of humanitarian operations as manipulations conducted by the US government as ways to shape it's foreign image.

"Where Does it Start and When Did it End: Women’s Role and the Feminist Movements of Yugoslavia in the 20th century."

Despite the large role of women within the Partisan revolution in Yugoslavia, there was little true understanding of feminism by women for most of the 20th century. This paper looks into the causes of this, being largely government suppression and lack of public education.

Influence, Interests, Investments and the Cloak of “Anti-Communism:” American Involvement in Allende’s Democratically-Elected Communist Chile

Using the example of Salvador Allende's socialist Chile, this paper looks at the fraudulent claims of America being a country that protects democracy, but instead seeks to further protect capitalism.
